Qualified as a veterinarian and board-certified European specialist in veterinary pharmacology and toxicology.  For more than 25 years, she was head the Division of Veterinary Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Toxicology at the Veterinary Faculty of Utrecht University. She is author and co-author of more than 300 scientific publications, articles and book chapters, many of which addressing the mechanisms of action of mycotoxins and their impact on animal health and food and feed safety. Currently she is senior consultant in the Future Food Program with a focus on sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and the improvement of disease resilience in livestock using natural feed additives.
